What is Med Spa?
Med Spa is the short name of medical spa, also known as medispa (though this name is mostly used by medical spa professionals: med spa doctors, staff etc.). Med Spa offers a wide range of cosmetic and aesthetic beauty treatments in a spa-like setting.
The med spa procedures can include:
- The Laser Aesthetics: Laser hair removal, Laser vein removal, Fraxel laser skin resurfacing etc.
- Chemical Peels: Medical grade chemical peels from light (Glycolic Peel, also known as lunch time peel, green peel, ViPeel) to medium and deep (TCA peel, Phenol Peel).
- Injectable fillers: Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse etc.
- Wrinkle smoothers: Botox, Dysport etc.
- Light treatments: Blue Light and Photodynamic therapy, Photofacial.
- Mechanical dermabrasion: microdermabrasion.
- Body contouring: velashape, vacuum massage, velasmooth.
As you can see from the list of med spa procedures above, med spa differs from usual spa and day spa, because medical spa operates under the supervision of a doctor, although the doctor doesn’t always perform every treatment. In some cases, the doctor may not even be on the premises. Regulations for med spa vary from state to state.
Some med spa focus just in one field of their work: for example they can concentrate on acne and acne scar treatments or plastic surgery support. And although the atmosphere of med spa is more clinical, plently of women and men enjoy making the traditional spa procedures (waxing, massage) in med spa.
